Clarinetist Xi Weilong, a well-known educator and supervisor of graduate students, is the vice-president of Chinese Clarinet Association, director of China Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, director of Guangdong Musicians Association, president of Guangdong Province Wind Association, member of academic committee of Xinghai Conservatory of Music, dean of Orchestral Instruments Department in Xinghai Conservatory of Music.
Prof. Xi has received many teaching achievements awards released by Department of Education of Guangdong Province and Xinghai Conservatory of Music. In 2001, he received “Ou Yongxi Excellent Music Education Award”, which is the highest level of conservatories and awarded by Ministry of Culture of China. He is listed in “World Who's Who of Chinese Literature and Art”.
As a clarinet educator in China, he has trained many students who won prizes in many major competitions at home and abroad.
Ma Shanshan, Wang Weixiong and Liu shen were admitted into the Middle School Affiliated to the Juilliard School and won full price scholarship. Now his many students serve as specialized performers and teachers at institutions and colleges.
In 2004, he established clarinet ensembles class unprecedented among nine conservatories of China and clarinet ensemble group. In the national tour across 2010 and 2013, the clarinet ensemble group was invited to has the concerts in Central Conservatory of Music, Military Band of the Chinese People’s Liberation and Conservatório de Macau. The wonderful performance caused a sensation at home and abroad. Prof. Xi had an interview with ‘The Clarinet’ of International Clarinet Association, and the clarinet ensemble group was featured on the cover of magazine. Having pupils everywhere, he has received distinguished achievements and is advancing Chinese clarinet cause.
